Beard Hair Transplant in Saudi Arabia and UAE

Beard is a fashion statement in our civilization. Supported by research and a number of studies it is proven that women find bearded men more attractive and tend to choose them for parenting. It is found that a woman’s idea of a man’s masculinity increases as facial hair increases. Men who do not have good facial hair growth often head to hair restoration clinics to get enough hair growth to define their manly status.

Men who come to have a beard hair transplant may be those who genetically have light hair growth on face or have lost hair due to a burn or an incision. Apart from beard, hair can be restored on cheeks and sideburns as well. In this case hair follicles are also planted in these areas and when grown, they give the beard a full appearance. Beard hair transplant restores not only the lost beard hair but also the lost self esteem. If you are also planning to get your beard surgically restored, here is a step by step guide to facial hair transplant to help you familiarize yourself with the procedure:

Planning for the Surgery:

On the day of surgery your surgeon will brief you once again about the procedure. He will take your photographs from different angles to compare the beard before and after the surgery.

Donor Area Preparation:

Beard hair transplant is just like a conventional hair transplant except it uses hair follicles which contain one or two hairs only. Any of the two approaches, strip harvesting or FUE, can be used for extraction of donor hair follicles. But generally Follicular Unit Extraction technique is used as it does not require a large number of donor grafts. The surgeon will decide which area hairs have the closest resemblance, in terms of color as well as texture, with your beard hair. Scalp hair resembles beard hair the most so, scalp serves as the donor area. The donor area will be then shaved and local anesthesia will be administered.

Extraction of Donor Grafts:

The surgeon carefully extracts desired number of hair follicle from the scalp using the Follicular Unit Extraction technique. In this donor hair harvesting technique a specially designed punch tool is used to remove hair follicles individually. The grafts are then stored in an artificial storage medium to keep them hydrated and alive outside the body.

Implantation of Donor Hair:

Once sufficient hair follicles have been extracted, the surgeon then moves on to site preparation phase of the surgery. Local anesthesia is administered to the beard and then tiny holes are pinched in the skin carefully observing their angle and direction to best mimic the existing hair. Then the hair follicles are carefully placed in these tiny holes to complete the surgery.

After the Procedure:

It is an outpatient surgery performed with local anesthesia so you will be free to go back home after the transplantation. The surgeon will provide you with a list of post-operative instruction which you will be required to follow to enjoy a smooth recovery. You will notice tiny beard hair appearing from the treated area within a few months after hair transplant. Transplanted hairs continue to grow like the rest of your hair. You can shave them and set them in different styles. Once fully grown, no one can differentiate between transplanted hair and original hair. If done precisely, beard hair transplant does not produce any scarring around the jaw line; where hair follicles are planted. However, the donor site will show tiny pinprick scars in case of FUE or a linear scar if FUT was used.
