Valentine’s Day makes the most special and the most romantic day of the year, for the lovers at least. Girls, especially, want to look at their best on this special day. You must also be planning your preparations to look at your best on this special day. But no matter how beautifully you dress up, if your hair is dull and dry, all the effort you put into preparation will go in vain. If you really have dull and dry, lifeless hair, don’t worry. With some easy-to-make homemade hair masks, you can instantly make your hair healthy, shiny and luscious.

Here are 5 really effective, protein-rich hair masks for dry and damaged hair. Regular application of these masks will keep your hair moist and healthy.

  1. Banana and Honey Mask:

Banana and honey are natural moisturizers which help reverse damage caused to hair due to dryness. Take one ripe banana and mash it to get a smooth paste. Add one egg, three tablespoons of milk and three tablespoons of honey to it. Also add five tablespoons of virgin olive oil into it and mix thoroughly. Now apply this mask onto your hair and let sit for half an hour before rinsing it off with a mild shampoo, better use baby shampoo. For best results, repeat this twice a week.

  1. Egg mask:

Egg mask is considered as the best homemade protein treatment for dull and dry hair. If you have oily hair use egg white only, but for normal hair one full egg will do. Take one or two eggs, depending on the length of your hair and add a few drops (2-3 drops) of lemon juice into it. Beat well until frothy and then apply it properly to your hair and scalp, making sure your hair is completely covered with the mask. Cover head with a shower cap and wait for 20 to 25 minutes. Rinse off with cold water and a mild shampoo. Repeat this twice a week for best results.

  1. Aloe Vera and Olive Oil Mask:

In a bowl add 4-5 tablespoons of aloe gel, 3-4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and one egg yolk. Mix the ingredients well until you get a smooth paste. Apply this mask onto your dry and brittle hair, starting from the tips and moving your way up to the roots. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave it on overnight. In the morning, shampoo your hair as usual. Repeat this on alternate days for a couple of weeks and restore the lost shine and sheath within no time.

  1. Coconut Oil and Almond Milk Mask:

In a clean bowl take 4 to 5 tablespoons of almond milk. Add into it two tablespoons of lukewarm coconut oil and one egg white. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly using a hand whisk. Apply the mask on your hair using a brush. If you don’t have a brush, you can use your finger tips as well. For best results let the mask sit overnight and wash off with normal water and mild shampoo in the morning. Use it alternate days or at least thrice a week for best results. Continue using this recipe until you get desired results.

  1. Avocado and Banana Mask:

If you are struggling with frizzy hair, avocado and banana hair mask may be worth trying. In a blender mix banana, avocado, cantaloupe (1/4th cup each), one tablespoon of wheat germ oil and one tablespoon of plain yogurt. Process on high for half a minute and then apply it to your scalp and hair. Massage gently for a few minutes, let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and then shampoo as usual. To further enhance its effectiveness, squeeze one Vitamin E capsule into the mask. Repeat once a week.

All these masks greatly improve the overall quality and appearance of your hair strands. They also help restore the shine and luster which your hair lose to the environmental pollution, sun exposure, harsh weather and excessive shampooing. Try these hair masks and make your look flawless on Valentine’s Day with healthy long hair.
